You don’t have to go into the city to participate in the Fun of Philly Beer Week 2011.
BeerAppreciation joins in the Philly Beer Week fun for some great local events at the Oakmont National Pub (31 E. Eagle Rd, Havertown). Last year we brought you the great Yards Beer Dinner with brewer Frank Winslow, “Heaven and Hell” Dogfish night along with the Oakmont Cup at the Pub – and Beer/Cheese/Chocolate and Coffee at Milkboy Coffee in Ardmore. This year, check out the great Delaware County events, with me as your host!
Pliny The Elder Beer Trivia Competition – Sunday June 5th 7:30 – 11:00 pm
In order to enjoy a few swallows of the Elder one must compete in beer trivia. Answer a question from me relating to craft beer, brewing and beer history and if answered correctly you will receive a ticket to buy your exclusive Pliny-filled glass. Once the Trivia is over the taps will be running freely – and there isn’t much of this nectar of the beer gods; so come up and take your chances and enjoy the number #1 rated craft beer in America!!
2nd Annual Oakmont Cup Home Brew Contest & Beer Tasting
Wednesday June 8th – 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Be part of the second annual Oakmont Cup Competition and Beer Tasting – Best Home Brew in Delaware and Montgomery Counties!
Join us for the second great year of the new tradition – our great home brewing contest in Havertown. Last year we handed out tastes of great hand-crafted home brewed beer from 11 brewers to over 60 enthusiastic beer appreciators. I will be there to talk beer, and MC the evening – and award the prizes. Join us this year – taste up to 10 great wheat and vote for your favorite, stay for all night beer specials, dinner and watch you vote count.
These folks are the craft brewers of the future – come and taste what their imagination and brewing skills can create for you. Celebrate Philly beer week with real local beer!
There are hundreds of great events, please check out the Philly Beer Week website, and don’t forget to take the R5 to Gullifty’s in Rosemont, Teresa’s Next Door in Wayne, TJ’s Everyday in Paoli and The Flying Pig in Malvern. Enjoy, but “be careful out there”. Hope to see you at an event, come over and say hi.
