Other Picks for the Week: There are so many great events going on – go to the Official PBW website for all venues and events. Below are some events that I know will be great beer appreciation experiences. Enjoy, be careful (take the train!).
- Saturday, June 4 – Head to the Flying Pig - There are no listed events, but the Flying Pig in Malvern is sure to satisfy – and offer the local beer appreciator surprisingly great food along with an extensive beer list with unusual and interesting taps. If you haven’t been to the Pig in a while or never tried it, go during beer week and celebrate. No better way to kick off the week that with the Pig! (It’s not really Kosher on Saturday though)
- Sunday, June 5 – Pliny the Elder Beer Trivia Night at the Oakmont Pub -7:30 PM – 11:00 PM (See Above)
- Monday, June 6 – With Love Beer Garden – Victory Brewing – Four Seasons - 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm – Taste great local Victory beer and hang out in the city for a real happy hour. Assuming it’s hot, the garden is the place to be – at the Four Seasons! (Don’t go near the fountain now).
- Tuesday, June 7 – Philly Beer Week’s Forum of the Gods – Philadelphia Bar and Restaurant -3:00 pm – 5:00 pm – I am definitely attending this one, to see and tip a few with Sam of Dogfish, Vinnie of Russian River, Carol of Stoudt’s and other beer greats. Can’t beat the company, and the craft brewers are riding high in 2011.
- Wednesday, June 8 – Oakmont Cup Home Brewers Competition at the Oakmont Pub – (See Above)
- Thursday, June 9 - Sierra Nevada ExPorter and ExPortation - 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm - Teresa’s Next Door in Wayne. From the purveyors of the finest beers in the ‘burbs – why not drop by TND and share in the Sierra? Beer Camp vet Andy is sure to have some unique surprises for beer appreciators all week.
- Friday, June 10 – Dogfish Head with Wendy - Free Beer and Cheese at DiBruno’s 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm – Head down to South Street Friday night, and enjoy great beer and great cheese – they go so well together. The folks at DiBruno’s really know their cheese – and have proven to be a great source for beer knowledge as well. Free Dogfish too? ‘Nuff said.
- Saturday, June 11- Zythos America Belgian Beer Festival – Monks - 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm – The venerable Monks is the place to be during Philly Beer Week. Join the people that brought Belgian beer to Philly, and one of the organizers of this wonderful Philly Beer Week craze – Tom Peters – he’ s the man who made it all happen.
- Sunday, June 12 – Beer Week Blowout 12:00 pm at the Plymouth Meeting Whole Foods – Yes, civilization in the Philly Suburbs, great craft beer at a grocery store. Well, not all grocery stores, but fill up a growler and pick up a cold case, uh and maybe some food too.
